Alligator Alley
While we were in Alabama we went to Alligator Alley. The alligator guy (I forgot his real name but he said that's what everyone calls him) described "the alley" as a permanent rehabilitation of sorts for the alligators. There are over 150 alligators there, all of which have been sent because they endangered either people, pets, property or livestock. Alligator jail. It was really neat, especially for my eldest who wants to be the next Crocodile Hunter.
This is Mo. The oldest alligator there. He is about 45 year old. Alligators typically live about 50 years. (You can learn a lot listening to a guy talk about alligators for an afternoon.)
The whole swampy area has this wooden sidewalk going all the way through it. We were up close and personal to the enormous alligators. Jack loved being a big boy. I just prayed the fence didn't give way.
Max didn't leave the alligator guy's side the entire time.
This is Captain Crunch. He got sent to Alligator Alley for stalking people's pets. He would take sleeping dogs off of porches at night. The guy called him a "Labrador retriever." ha ha
This is what the swampy area looked like. There were alligators everywhere.
