Sooner or later...

...we knew we were bound to spend some time in the E.R. Today it happened.

We were talking after church and the boys (all of ours along with Parker and Drew) were throwing rocks into the water drainage area. Grant bent down to dig a rock out of the dirt. Jack discovered a small boulder and launched it, right into Grant's head. It was an impressive hit for a 2 year old. The crying and bleeding began so the non head trauma boys went with the Kelley's while Nate and I took Grant to the E.R.

Grant did pretty well, all things considered. He calmed down and was fine until we had to tell each person that asked about how it happened. Then he'd start crying all over again. He kept saying, "I didn't know Jack was going to throw it there." In the end they estimated his gash to be a little over an inch long and they closed it back with 3 staples. FYI- no numbing agent was used before the stapler. He got some tylenol with codeine and that was it. Grant didn't cry too much with the staples, amazingly. However, when the nurse tried to wrap the bandage around his head he lost it.

(if you are squeamish you might not want to look at the first picture though it is very blurry so the detail isn't that graphic)

I know this is a horrible picture but it gives you a little idea.

The aftermath though it's really hard to see the staples. Grant wanted me to take a picture so he could see them. I am not looking forward to cleaning that up...

We tried convincing him it's cool to wear an ace bandage around your head, like a ninja, but I don't think he bought it.

And the RAIN came down...

The 2nd night of our camping excursion brought with it lots of rain. One of the guys in our group is friends with the guy who flies to China, picks out tents for Wal-Mart/Sam's, presents them to whoever chooses which ones to buy and then gives them to our friend. So, one of the perks of this camp out was whichever tent you slept in you got to take home with you.
We got this super cool one. It has 3 rooms. Max was really excited to have his own room.

But, we think maybe they don't waterproof the prototypes.

This was the spot on our bed before we went to sleep. It was pretty big. I didn't take a picture of it the next morning but it was approximately 4 feet long and soaking wet. Nate and I laid in bed with the flashlight pointed at the ceiling of the tent watching the water drip, then POUR, onto our bed. It was coming in at every seam. It was a super night. The little guys didn't seem to notice.

All things considered, it was a fun weekend. And, now we have a cool tent to use on bright, sunny days.

CG Camp-out

We went to Prairie Creek with our community group last week for a mid-summer camping adventure. The only way we could drag Nate along was with the promise of electricity and a box fan in our tent at night (he has a policy of not camping past February due to the heat so the thought of July almost killed him).

Again, a source of water is a necessity if spending any amount of time outside in the south. Would anyone like to donate a boat to us? We would put it to great use.

Ta Ta to T-Ball

Now, don't get me wrong. I love watching baseball games and I know Max loves playing T-ball but.... I am not sad to see the short & hectic season end! 3 games a week all either at dinner or bedtime wore me out! So, until next year when we have 2 boys playing I will try to enjoy my evenings a little more.

4th of July

I don't know what I've been doing the past couple of weeks but blogging obviously wasn't one of them!

We went to Natchez, MS to spend the 4th of July with my grandparents, aunt & uncle. If you're going to Mississippi in July it is best to go somewhere with a pool.
Max with some sort of Ninja move off the diving board.

Jack stayed close to the edge unless I was in the pool. Then he felt brave enough to go all over. He might be our most reserved in the water which throws out my theory of my kids getting crazier each time.

A nighttime boat ride.

Crazy aunt Diana.

G.G. with the boys who would get in the picture.

Home

When the cat's away, the mice will play.

OR

When the family's away, the cat will climb the curtains creating holes and shredded areas in them.

So nice to be home.
