Even more boys

We had the privilege of watching little DD the other night. We're always up for the fun another little guy brings... as long as we're not legally and financially responsible for him. After dinner a few of the boys enjoyed a bath. Sometimes giving a bath is so much easier than a full body wipe down.




Do you think they will ever appreciate the fact that they bathed together?

Bring it, Sister

I just want all you fellow American Idol fans to know that Melinda Doolittle, the most amazing singer of season 6 is a good friend of mine from college. Great things come out of the University of Tulsa! She is exactly how she seems... awesome and humble. She used to help lead worship at Bell Howse (our stu-mo meeting). She is so much fun... I love that girl!

(In case there's any doubt, I'm the fat one)

Leopard Seal

Max told us about what he learned in church tonight:

"There was a man who had boo boos all over his body. He had leopard seal. His servant told him to jump in the river 7 times and his leopard seal would go away. So he did. The man jumped in the river 7 times and when he got out his leopard seal was gone. He didn't have any more boo boos on his body."

Max's Prayer

Dear God, I thank you for Mommy and Daddy and that they love me so much. Thank you for my little brothers. I can't wait for Jack to get bigger, God. Thank you that I am going to have a little sister and that I'm going to love her so much. Thank you that she will be so much fun to play with. I love you, God. AMEN.


Sweet Lord! My friend Lori overheard her daughter, Kate, praying in the backseat of the car for a baby sister. Lori was content with the 2 kids she had and hadn't really planned on having any more. Well, God heard Kate's prayer and in His generosity blessed them with twin girls 3 months ago. Oh, the faith of a child....

Career goals

On the way to Mother's Day Out the other day Max was thinking about what he wants to be when he grows up....

Max: I think I'll be a builder. I can build houses, hotels, hospitals... Do you think that's a good idea?
Sarah: I think that's super.
Grant: I'm going to be a robber.
Max: You can't be a robber! That's against the law. Mom, tell him he can't be a robber!
Grant: Uh-huh. I be a robber. Then I can have a sword and a dun.
Max: Robbers don't have swords! Mom, tell him robbers don't have swords.
Grant: Do too. I have a sword and a dun and I be a robber!
Max: Having a gun is against the law, Grant!
Grant: But I wanted a sword and a dun!
Sarah: But if you were a robber then the police would arrest and put you in jail.
Grant: (sigh) O-tay, I be a builder then.

bye-bye, baby

Jack is anxious to be big. He crawls around after Max and Grant acting out his pesky little brother role of getting in to their things and destroying their creations. He is so proud to be mobile and is much braver than his actual abilities allow. He wants to stand by himself and walk but fortunately, for the brief time being, he still has to hold on to something in order to stay upright. My time with a sweet baby is fleeting. Then, it will really be all crazy boys.

Nudist Colony

Sometimes I think I must have gotten lost on my way home and somehow ended up in a nudist colony. What is it about boys and an innate desire to be naked? All my boys like to go about in their undies or nothing at all. Is it me, or is it a boy thing?

I think Max and Nate are both too old to be photographed naked. Unless, of course, they were in an enormous bathtub... that would be ok.

Old Man Birthday Party

Nate turned 31 on the 6th. We had a good, old fashioned birthday party at home with our family. Max was confused why Nate didn't have a "real" birthday party.

When I told him it was Nate's birthday he said, "Where's it going to be?" I explained he wasn't having a party, that we were going out to eat and then come back to our house for cake and presents. Max asked, "Well, who's going to be there?" I told him it was just going to be us. He said, "Well, what kind is it going to be?" He had a crocodile hunter party, Grant had pirates so surely his daddy would have something cool, too. Nope. Just a generic Happy Birthday sign and napkins.

He must thinks grown-ups are real duds.

The boys gave Nate a pair of spiderman boxers for his birthday. See picture below (just kidding. don't panic.)

It's kind of hard to tell from the picture but I completely botched Nate's cake. It started to slide off the cake plate when I was flipping it out of the pan and I didn't have any free hands to catch it so it fell on the counter in MANY pieces. I thought, "That's ok, I can patch it up with the icing and he'll never know." Well, then the top section broke completely in half when I put it on top. It took 3/4 of the icing tub to "patch" the bottom section so there was just enough left to fill in the crack on top. It was a beauty.

We discovered that Jack thinks blowers are the funniest invention on the planet.
Max and Grant were more than willing to appease his desire to hear the blowers. I have since thrown them all in the trash. Enough is enough.
Only 6 more weeks until our next birthday celebration then I'll finally get a break!

Spidey Boys

We may be stuck in the house but that doesn't mean Superheroes aren't out in full force. Spidey #1 and #2 are here to save the day.

For some reason, Grant calls his puffed up cheeks his "mean face". I am ready for spring so my little superheroes will go out and save the world... outside!

My parents just celebrated their 34th anniversary so the boys and I made them a little card... with the help of Shutterfly. Here is the photo shoot that transpired trying to get that "perfect" picture.

Beautiful Babies

Regis and Kelly is having their annual Most Beautiful Baby Contest. Of course, I had to send in a couple pictures of my boys. Here are my submissions...

Pirates, ahoy!

Grant turned 3 while we were on our Colorado trip so we had to postpone his party until a couple weeks after the fact. But, party we did. Grant and his pirate friends, big and little, had a swashbuckling time at the Jone's Center pool. He got lots of Diego loot which was great since he had decided that he wanted am "Eggo" party a little too late.

Colorado

I never have time to post anymore... until we get a snowy day to shut down NWA. Which reminded me of our trip to Colorado a couple weeks ago. Here are the highlights:

1. We got stuck in Wichita, KS for 2 nights because they closed I-70 across Kansas.

2. We celebrated the new year in a hotel room by ourselves... which we thought was a fitting end to the wonderfully blissful 2006.

3. My dad, Nate, Max and Grant went snow shoeing around my parent's house.

4. My parent's next door neighbor built a snow maze in his backyard that the boys enjoyed.

5. Snow, snow, snow.... followed by hot chocolate, of course.
6. On the way home from Colorado, the Yakima (roof carrier) opened near Burlington, CO, 3 hours into our trip. Out flew the boys Hullaballo game, Max's spiderman sleeping bag and a bag with all of our hats, gloves, winter gear, etc. We turned around and rescued what we could. The snow in the median was thigh high. If only I had taken pictures. It was such a happy time.

Even Max and Grant have had enough snow this season. They didn't even want to go play outside today...
